Are Old People Breathing Your Air?
May 12, 2014
Yes, the world has plenty of O2 molecules floating around, but do old people deserve to take some of yours? Studies show that alveoli in geriatric citizens are up to 50 percent less effective than younger people (citation need). Do we need to shun inefficient lungs necessary similar to the way our society shuns inefficient cars and their drivers?
As the planet becomes more crowded, this topic may come to the forefront of societies issues. President Barak Obama has already released a statement from the Whitehouse saying: “ limiting inefficient breathers is the next challenge for the United States”. This foreboding message could be a warning sign for those entering their “golden years” within the next 30 or 40 years.
